Founders' Memorial Steering Committee to seek public views from a wider range of Singaporeans through dialogues and surveys

1    The Founders’ Memorial Steering Committee will be leading a series of dialogue sessions to seek views and ideas on a memorial to honour the values and ideals of Singapore’s founding generation of leaders. These sessions, which will run from 31 October 15 to 15 December 15, are available for sign-ups at www.foundersmemorial.sg.

2    The dialogue sessions are part of the Steering Committee’s efforts to consult the public on the objectives, concept and form of the memorial. A schedule of the dialogue sessions that will be held from 31 October to 15 December 2015 can be found in Annex A. The public can also provide their feedback using the online form available on the www.foundersmemorial.sg website. The Committee will also be gathering views through surveys in the coming months.

3    In addition, the Steering Committee is planning to hold roundtables with specific groups like historians and educators to seek their views. The feedback received from these various platforms of engagement would provide the committee with views from different stakeholders and a wide range of Singaporeans.

About the Founders' Memorial Steering Committee

4    The 15-member Steering Committee was formed in end June 2015 to gather views from the public and to conceptualise a memorial to honour and remember the values and ideals of Singapore’s founding generation of leaders. In the past few months, the Committee has been convening to plan the engagement approaches and has conducted pilot discussions in small groups. The Committee started its work in June 2015 and is expected to run up to end-2016.
