Who we are

The Founders’ Memorial honours independent Singapore’s founding values and nation-building journey. It opens at Bay East Garden in end-2028 as an integrated garden and gallery experience.

Focusing on Singapore’s early nation-building years (1950s – 1970s), we tell the story of how our founding leaders and generation overcame the odds to build independent Singapore, establishing it on values and ideals such as multiculturalism, openness and integrity.  These values, recognised by Singaporeans through public engagement as foundational and distinct to the Singaporean identity, remain relevant today.

The Memorial will serve as a unifying space for all Singaporeans; a place to reflect on our founding values, connect with others through our shared story, and be inspired to build a better future together.

Our journey continues

Since the Memorial’s inception in 2015, Singaporeans have contributed to the Memorial’s concept, location, design, visitor experience and content through public engagements, pilot exhibitions, and programmes. Join us in the making of our Memorial!
